Overflow call handling

Answering calls that the primary team cannot take because every line is busy or the store is closed.

Overflow is where most dealership calls are lost. Alpha Drive's AI absorbs volume spikes without a queue, and Live Assist agents take the exceptions.

In practice

Overflow is the volume that exceeds what the team can answer: lunch hour, Monday morning, the first warm Saturday. Without an overflow plan, those calls ring out, go to voicemail or abandon.

Handling it

Hiring for peaks leaves people idle the rest of the day. AI answers every call at once, so overflow largely disappears; the calls that still need a person go to whoever is free, or to live agents.

Common questions

When does dealership call overflow happen?

Usually at opening, lunch, shift change and the last hour before close, plus seasonal spikes and recall announcements.

How does Alpha Drive AI handle overflow?

The AI answers every call immediately with no hold time. Live Assist agents can cover overflow and after-hours calls that need a person.

Also called: overflow calls, after-hours answering.
